Lubrication & Fluid Analysis Oil Analysis is one of the unsung heroes of any effective PdM program. It allows for confirmation of faults identified through vibration analysis, provides accurate parameters for optimizing PM frequencies, and overall gives the end-user significant “bang for the buck.” Oil Analysis provides answers to the following questions:
A good Oil Analysis program can solve these riddles by testing the viscosity, checking for water, counting wear metal particles, measuring the Total Acid Number (TAN), and determining fluid cleanliness. All of these parameters are an integral part of ISI’s “Advanced” Oil Analysis package and can be determined by the analysis of only 3-4 ounces of lubricant.
