Lubrication & Fluid Analysis

Oil Analysis is one of the unsung heroes of any effective PdM program. It allows for confirmation of faults identified through vibration analysis, provides accurate parameters for optimizing PM frequencies, and overall gives the end-user significant “bang for the buck.” Oil Analysis provides answers to the following questions:
  • How often should I change my oil?
  • Am I using the right oil for the job?
  • How clean are my high pressure hydraulic systems?
  • Is that noisy gearbox actually damaged internally?

A good Oil Analysis program can solve these riddles by testing the viscosity, checking for water, counting wear metal particles, measuring the Total Acid Number (TAN), and determining fluid cleanliness. All of these parameters are an integral part of ISI’s “Advanced” Oil Analysis package and can be determined by the analysis of only 3-4 ounces of lubricant.

Lubrication and Fluid AnalysisComponents that are commonly sampled include diesel engines, critical bearing housings and gearboxes, as well as hydraulic systems. ISI has experience setting up and maintaining professional Oil Analysis programs on a broad spectrum of industrial environments, including CNC machining equipment, water and wastewater plants, bakeries, and chemical plants to name a few.
